Tata Steel, the world's seventh largest steelmaker, is open to investing part of its upcoming share sale proceeds in a project of Australian miner Riversdale, its chief financial officer said on Monday.

Tata Steel, the world's seventh largest steelmaker, is open to investing part of its upcoming share sale proceeds in a project of Australian miner Riversdale, its chief financial officer said on Monday.

"Part of proceeds will be to discretion of Tata Steel board to invest in project there," Kaushik Chatterjee told reporters.

Last week, the company said it has fixed a price band of Rs594 to Rs610 for a 57-million share sale that opens on January 19.
