French IT consultancy and outsourcing group Steria’s Indian unit is looking to launch its domestic business in the current fiscal, banking on government orders, as it eyes sales of €100 million over three years.

“What we are doing is taking our European solutions and marketing them to the Indian domestic market. We are bidding for the unique identification (UID) project in the biometrics side and also for other government projects such as police command and control systems in Lucknow, Delhi, Noida and Ahmedabad etc,” Mukesh Aghi, chief executive at Steria India, told DNA.

“We are going to invest €25 million over the next 3 years in setting up operations in the country. We have 5,500 people in India currently handling our global operations and would require additional funding,” Aghi added.

Steria expects India to account for about 5% of sales in the next three years. Steria currently generates equal sales from the IT and BPO space.

The company plans to double its Indian workforce over three years by opening more delivery centres and expanding offices in Chennai and Noida.

It will launch 10 products in India this year, including in homeland security, defence, banking, insurance and fleet management areas.
