Now, get your Cibil score online for Rs450

Credit Information Bureau (India) Ltd, or Cibil, has launched an online facility for consumers and business entities which wish to avail credit scores.

One can now purchase his or her Cibil TransUnion score along with a credit information report (CIR) by going through a three-step authentication process:

  •  log on to the website www.cibil.com and fill in an online request form;
  • make a payment of `450, either through netbanking, debit, credit or cash card; and
  • authenticate identity by answering at least three out of five randomly asked questions based on credit history.

On successful authentication and payment processing, the Cibil TransUnion score and CIR are emailed to the consumer.

The entire process will be paperless, which means no identity proof or other documents typically required under know your customer, or KYC, rules need be submitted.

But there’s also a catch — one gets only five questions to authenticate his identity online and must answer at least three successfully to be able to get his CIR and credit score.

“Only the person who has applied for the credit score can answer these questions as they are personalised, based on his credit history. Questions are randomly chosen and if the consumer fails to answer at least three questions correctly then, he gets his report offline without making any extra payment,” said Harshala Chandorkar, senior vice president- consumer relations, Cibil. In case one fails to answer at least three questions correctly, KYC documents would need to be submitted physically to get the credit score and report, which could take 10-12 working days.

“We have seen a significant upsurge in the number of consumers who are accessing their credit scores and CIRs. This process will further make accessing the score and CIR hassle free, faster and secure for the consumers,” said Arun Thukral, managing director, Cibil.
