Nova Pulse in venture with Spain’s IVI

Nova Pulse IVF, a division of Nova Medical Centres Pvt Ltd, has formed a joint venture with Spain headquartered IVI, which runs the world’s largest chain of IVF (in vitro fertilisation) clinics. The venture, Nova IVI Fertility, will expand operations to 25 clinics in India and the Middle-East by December 2014 and set up a research foundation.

Founded in Valencia, Spain, in 1990, IVI is the world leader in reproductive medicine with 22 clinics spread across Europe and South America. Since its inception, IVI has helped more than 50,000 births and pioneered methods including Endometrial Receptivity Assay and Vitrification techniques.

Nova Medical Centres, a leading short-stay surgery group, launched Nova Pulse in 2011 in partnership with Pulse Women’s Hospital. IVF is a treatment for infertility in which an egg is fertilised by sperm outside the body. It is a major treatment when other methods of assisted reproductive technology fail.

Suresh Soni, chairman and CEO, Nova Medical Centres, said, “At present, 95% of the IVF sector in India is unorganised. IVF offerings in India leave much to be desired in terms of technology, standardisation of internationally accepted procedures, monitoring of clinical outcomes and non-standard pricing. We hope our collaboration with IVI will help to bridge this gap by providing world-class treatment at a cost-effective price, with an aim to reach out to all classes of patients.”
