Mother Dairy today decided to increase milk prices by Rs2 per litre in the national capital region (NCR) from tomorrow.
A fortnight ago another popular brand Amul had increased prices by Rs 2 per litre in Delhi and NCR.
Mother Dairy's full cream milk will now cost Rs35 a litre, tonned milk is priced at Rs27 per litre, double tonned at Rs24 per litre and Vended milk (token milk) at Rs26 per itre.
The dairy major, which has the largest distribution chain in Delhi and NCR, said it is forced to hike prices due to rise in procurement costs.
"To ensure availability of milk, Mother Dairy is forced to pay an increased procurement price," the company said, adding that the procurement price has increased sharply since December 2010 due to rise in input costs like cattle feed, fodder and cost of transportation.
