MUMBAI: After putting India on the global map in development and manufacture of removable data storage media, New Delhi-based Moser Baer India Ltd is all set to diversify into the burgeoning entertainment business in the country.

According to reliable industry sources, the promoters of Moser Bear are in the process of setting up a company - either a subsidiary or an independent entity - for their new business foray. And heading this business is the erstwhile chief executive of Saregama India’s films business, Harish Dayani.

Sources also confirm that the new business will look at entertainment in its entirety and will be much more than film production. While the entire business plan is being currently worked out, concrete details are expected to be made public by August-end or early September this year.

To be based out of Mumbai, the new company will operate out of its corporate office which is under construction in the Mecca of Mumbai’s entertainment business - Andheri West.

Incorporated in 1983, Moser Baer India Ltd is one of the country’s top technology firms and ranks among the top three optical storage media manufacturers in the world.

Promoted by Deepak Puri, who is also its managing director, the New Delhi-headquartered Moser Baer offers a robust product range of floppy disks, compact discs and digital versatile discs.

The company has a presence in over 82 countries, serviced through six marketing offices in India, the US and Europe, with strong tie-ups with major global technology brands.
