Maruti Suzuki to relaunch SX4
Maruti Suzuki India Ltd would relaunch its SX4 sedan on October 13 with cosmetic changes and a new engine configuration to meet the mandatory BS-IV emission norms, a company source said on Tuesday.

“The production of SX4 has been discontinued since a few days. We will now relaunch the vehicle on October 13 to take advantage of the spurt in car purchase ahead of Diwali,” a company official said.

The new model would be a little more expensive than the existing one, the official said.
The government has mandated BS-IV emission norms across major cities from April 2010. As a result, automakers have to relaunch the existing models with either new or reconfigured engines to meet new emission norms. The exercise has also given automakers a chance to bring in cosmetic changes in the models to maintain customer excitement.

Maruti has already relaunched its Zen Estilo with a new 1 L K-Series engine. The company had launched the SX4 model in 2007 with a 1.6 L petrol engine. Since then, it has not made any changes in the model.
