JBM Auto to add 4 plants this fiscal

JBM Auto, part of Rs2,700 crore JBM Group, is planning to add four plants by the end of this fiscal. The company will invest `350-400 crore on new manufacturing facilities and expansion of existing plants.

The company manufactures auto components such as sheet metal parts and welded assemblies, and has 29 plants across the country.

It supplies to almost all the major OEMs in India.

As part of its plan, JBM will set up facilities in Manesar for Maruti Suzuki, Nalagarh for TVS Motors, Pantnagar for Ashok Leyland and Bangalore for Toyota. “We have already started working on these plants, which will be operational by end of this fiscal or first quarter of next year,” said Nishant Arya, executive director, JBM Group.

It is also simultaneously working on expansion of its existing plants in Chennai (for Nissan and Ford) and Hosur (TVS).

“On a daily basis we manufacture 700,000 parts across all productive plants. The demand is going up in almost every segment. We normally run on two shift basis. When the demand increases, we run on extended hours shifts. Currently, the demand is so high that we are working 24/7 across facilities. It becomes necessary for us to add more facilities to meet the demand,” said Arya.

The firm will finalise bus manufacturing plans this fiscal. “We are planning to launch our own bus in the next financial year. We are in talks with an international player,” he said.
