Hutchison shares jump 7% after forecast-beating H1

Shares of Hutchison Whampoa Ltd, billionaire Li Ka-shing's ports-to-telecoms flagship, jumped 7% on Friday after the conglomerate reported better-than-expected first-half earnings.          

The stock hit a session high of HK$56.80, up HK$3.75 with 22.6 million shares changing hands, about four times its average daily trading volume in the past 30 days.                                           

The company said on Thursday that it would focus on its core business units but also had a cash pile to help fund opportune acquisitions.
