India's headline inflation is still high and is not acceptable, Montek Singh Ahluwalia, the deputy chairman of the Planning Commission, said on Monday.
Earlier, the wholesale price index (WPI) , India's main inflation gauge, rose an annual 9.97% in July, slower than analysts' expectations, as food inflation eased, government data showed on Monday.
The data compared with the median forecast for a 10.39% rise in a Reuters poll and was lower than June's annual rise of 10.55%.
