MUMBAI: Broadmind, the non-traditional specialist company of India's largest media buying network Group M, has announced some key structural changes. Vinit Karnik has been appointed as its national director, entertainment.

He carries with him fourteen years of experience in branding and show-business and has worked with big names like Mudra, Padmalaya Studios and Prasad Film-Labs.

Meanwhile, WPP-owned agency Matrix’s old hand Anup Kotekar has been brought to Broadmind, as national director, marketing. Kotekar will be responsible for cinema solutions, content management and media marketing.

Suresh Iyer and Rajesh Iyer have also been designated as director, entertainment marketing. They will be in-charge of media services. Also, Nagesh Birla and Smita Mukherjee have been appointed as director, entertainment marketing. Mukherjee, will, however, will be also responsible for talent-management within the company.

Rajeev Berry, GM, Broadmind said, “As the concept of ‘branded entertainment’ is gaining momentum, we also plan to add capability and manpower to our entertainment division. We were looking for people with a lot of domain knowledge, who would take initiative at Broadmind. For instance, Vineet Karnik carries with him extensive experience of over fourteen years and brings varied skill-sets to the table. He has rich knowledge pertaining to the industry and will add to the creative and strategic solutions that we have to offer.”

Berry added, “I think that the changes in the people-structure were necessary as it will help us offer newer solutions to our clients. Broadmind operates on the 'beyond traditional media' principle and our solutions are strategic, seamless and creative.”

Broadmind currently has 25 people working under its roof in various areas of non-traditional media such as events and entertainment for 1,000-odd brands.

Fa-Salaam Namaste, Timex-Kaal, Tissot-Mr & Mrs Smith are among 50 deals that it has bagged in 2005. The agency works with every major film company, from Dharma Productions and Pritish Nandy Communications to Yash Raj Films.
