From this Diwali, MTV will be more than just music

In a major repositioning exercise, music channel MTV will do away with 'Music Television' from under its logo to reach out to viewers as a complete entertainment network.

Come October 17 and the youth entertainment channel will complete the repositioning it kicked off two years back, the company said in a release here.

"Dropping 'Music Television' from under the logo (that has been around since 1981, MTV's US launch) is a big symbolic statement. We were born of music, driven by music, but not limited by music. MTV is about new ideas, new formats, new ways of reaching people in the new places they choose to live in," MTV India & senior vice president-Creative & Content, Ashish Patil, said.

MTV's new image will boast of a new graphics environment that aims to engage viewers through RSS feeds, mobile contests, scrolls, scraps and pop ups.

In line with the move, MTV will launch a new show called Rant or Rambling About Nothing Today that will have an analysis on latest issues in the media.

Another show, MTV What The Hack, will feature Internet whizkid Ankit Fadia teaching tricks on how to be safe in the virtual world.
