The Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), Central zone, today stressed on the need for effective logistics in growth of companies at a conference held today.

The supply chain excellence conference was held with an aim to strengthen overall logistics for the companies located in Vadodara, Ahmedabad and other parts of Gujarat in the wake of current shortfalls.

Talking  to PTI, Nitin Mankad, president, CII (Central) Gujarat, said, "With an aim to pull the talent in the field of logistics, this conference has been organised today taking into account the response meted out to the first edition of the conference last year."

Logistics as a concept refers to overall planning including management of material, service, information and capital flows. It includes increasingly complex information, communication and control systems required in today's business environment, said Mankad.

Rajeev Mehta, Executive President (Logistics), UltraTech Cement Ltd, Hari Bhatt, Vice President (SCM) Reliance Industries Ltd, Maulik Mehta, Director, Grand Polycoats Ltd, Shantanu Bhadkamkar, Managing Director, ATC (Clearing & Shipping), Manoj Matalia, Head-Supply Chain, ABB, Prashant Sharma, Head, supply chain division of Zydus Cadila, Samir Shah, co-chairman, infrastructure and logistics division at Panel & Partner, JBS Group of Companies and others took part in the conference.
