Bajaj to launch modified version of Boxer

Bajaj Auto Limited would launch its popular brand Boxer in a modified version to suit the rural market of the country.
The managing director of the company, Rajiv Bajaj said that 150 cc modified Boxer would be launched by September this year mainly targeting the rural market of India.

Similarly, the company would launch the new version of 125 cc KTM Duke simultaneously in India and Brazil within next few months. Bajaj said that 99% components used to manufacture Duke would be procured locally and would be manufactured at the company’s Chakan plant.

“Initially we had planned to manufacture about 1100 KTMs every month. But encouraging response during a survey made by us changed our plans. We have now decided to make about 2,000 KTMs per month. It would be a different kind of motorcycle,” Bajaj assured. 

Deliberating about Boxer, Bajaj said that the two-wheeler has been made keeping in mind the suburbs and rural people.
The company’s net profit during 2010-11 was Rs3,340 crore as compared to Rs1,704 crore in 2009-10.

BAL registered a growth of about 34% in sales. While the sales figure was 3,823,954 units in 2010-11, the figure stood at 2,852,580 units in 2009-10.

Domestic motorcycle sales for the company witnessed a growth of 36% - 2,414,606 unit as against industry growth of 23%; resulting in a gain of 2.4% in the domestic market share. The sale of the company’s commercial vehicle for the first time crossed 2,00,000 units in the domestic market.
