APEC finance ministers to meet in Hawaii

The US treasury department said on Monday that it will host finance ministers from the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) member states at a meeting in Hawaii on Nov 10, 2011.   

The meeting in Honolulu will precede the previously announced APEC leaders' meeting on Nov 12-13, 2011.                          
 

"The United States will use the opportunity of chairing APEC in 2011 to highlight the vast potential the Asia-Pacific region holds for American companies and workers, to help shape the future of Asia-Pacific's regional architecture and to promote APEC's core mission of spurring mutually beneficial regional economic cooperation," the Treasury said in a statement.                                            
The 21-member Pacific Rim forum includes the United States, China, Japan, Canada, Australia, Brunei, Chile, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, The Philippines, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan Thailand and Vietnam.
