Airlines put up fare details on websites

Instead of coughing up a huge amount to buy a flight ticket, passengers will now be able to get an idea of the minimum and maximum fares on various routes. The Federation of Indian Airlines (FIA) issued a statement on Tuesday announcing that now their websites will display the various range of fares on every single route.

The FIA members include Air India Ltd, GoAir, IndiGo, Jet Airways, JetLite, Kingfisher Airlines, Paramount Airways and SpiceJet. On the first day of each month, airlines will furnish a copy of the tariff they would charge, route-wise, across their network to the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and also provide the same information on their websites.

All FIA members have decided that they will make available the fare-related information in a consumer-friendly format. Effective 10pm from December 7, the eight FIA members’ websites will display tariff sheets, indicating the range of fares on all routes.
