The much awaited Yamaha YZF-R3 has finally been launched in India at a price of Rs 3.25 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

At the first ride at the Buddh International Circuit, the R3 proved to be an exceptional handler and extremely fun to ride.

3.

3/12

The R3 is reminiscent of the R15 v1 thanks to its very forgiving nature, even when you’re pushing it hard to the limit.

4.

4/12

The R3 makes plenty of torque low down at low revs, and also features a very short first gear. So a little hooliganism is a must!

5.

5/12

A low seat height of just 780mm means even shorter riders can ride the bike rather comfortably. Even the seat is quite comfortable.

The instrument cluster features a large tachometer and digital gauges for speed, fuel, engine temperature, gear position, and a plethora of other information.

7.

7/12

The R3 has lots of nice design details all around. One of the touches we like a lot is the trapezoidal LED tail lamp.

8.

8/12

The handsomely sculpted fuel tank on the R3 has a capacity of 14 litres. We reckon it should be enough for a fair bit of touring.

9.

9/12

The 321cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin motor pumps out 41.4bhp of power and 3.02kgm of torque.

10.

10/12

The handlebars aren’t too low slung, giving the bike a slightly upright stance. This should make the R3 flexible for a variety of riding conditions.

11/12

The overall design of the bike is quite in line with what Yamaha is doing these days with their bigger sportbikes like the 2015 YZF-R1.

12.

12/12

The stubby side exhaust is fairly silent at low revs, but as the speed builds up, it really amps up the aural pleasure.
