Planets aligned, but Buffett plays to his strengths, too

Legendary investor Warren Buffett has amassed a fortune throughout his life and is one of the wealthiest people in the world.
Born on August 30, 1930 in Omaha, Nebraska, Buffett has earned his nickname “The Oracle Of Omaha” through his astute assessments of overlooked companies which are often out of favour with the market. Despite his billion dollar fortune, he is widely known  for his frugal ways and still lives in the same house he bought in 1958 for $31,000.

Not surprisingly, Buffett’s horoscope is extremely powerful and fortunate and reflects his level of success in the financial world.  It also provides some interesting insights into his style and approach.

Buffett was born when the Moon was in Scorpio.  This often gives an ability to react quickly to changing situations and make clear cut decisions whatever the circumstances.  This executive ability is a must for someone in charge of such a wide-ranging portfolio in his  company.  The condition of his Sun is even more revealing.
He was born with the Sun in Leo, which is often conducive for leadership but with an intriguing twist: his Sun is in a close conjunction with Neptune and in aspect with Saturn.

Neptune is the planet of vision, ideals and imagination and its influence on the Sun here suggests that Buffet perhaps takes a broader, more conceptual view of his work.  His ideals are important to him as he engages in philanthropic works and has said that he will give away most of his money upon his death.

The aspect between Saturn and the Sun is perhaps the source of Buffett’s long term and conservative approach to investing.  Saturn is the planet of the long term and is prominent in the horoscopes of people who take a more deliberate and careful approach to life.

This has definitely been the case with Buffett and it no doubt reflects his frugal nature.  In fact, Saturn is placed in the 2nd house of wealth and assets suggesting that he has taken a slow and cumulative approach to building wealth. Normally, if Saturn is placed in this ‘money house’ it is seen as a negative influence, but there are important exceptions.

Saturn is extra strong in Buffett’s chart because it receives the aspects of both Mars and Jupiter from the 8th house. Jupiter (expansion, gains) combines with Mars (action, energy) and provides a huge boost for Saturn. Saturn acts as the means through which wealth is gained and describes his slow-but-steady approach that focuses on value and bargains.

Of course, Buffett has made his fortune through his ability to correctly analyse situations and take advantage of opportunities as they come along. Mercury symbolises the intellect and it is  strong and well placed in his chart.

Mercury is in Virgo, the constellation that symbolises analysis and discrimination so this enhances his analytical skills.  Even more important, Mercury is placed in the 11th house of gains and income conjunct the planet Venus.

As the other ‘money house’ in a horoscope, the 11th also often reveals wealth potential and the way in which a person can acquire money.  Mercury in Virgo in the 11th house shows a person who can earn a lot of money through his insight and intelligence. The Venus conjunction here magnifies these favourable effects since it is considered a lucky planet.

Since he was born with this horoscope, we can ponder the extent to which Buffett was fated to become the world’s richest man and what role his own conscious, free choices may have had in shaping his destiny.

His chart is a fortunate one with his excellent Mercury-Venus conjunction in the 11th house and his strong and well-aspected Sun. Fate has dealt Buffett a very lucky hand. But he has also played that hand masterfully as he has followed his inclinations towards cautious and conservative investing (Saturn in the 2nd house) while retaining the ability to make quick decisions when need be.

Buffett was blessed with good planets, but he had the necessary self-knowledge to know what his strengths were.

Buffett’s  horoscope reminds us that our chance of success lies in acquiring a better self-understanding in order to better play to our strengths.
