First things first: there’s too much of bhangra going on here. Every song is a Punjabi one and you know it’s a quintessential Yash Raj album. Pritam seems to have made music to a strict brief.

Hadippa is a catchy fun number sung by Bhangra specialist Mika— an instant hit and the top song of this album. Discowale Khisko is again a commercial ear-pleasing Punjabi number. Bhangra Bistar starts of like a regular song but the women power of Alisha Chinai, Sunidhi Chauhan and Hard Kaur infuses amazing energy into it.

Ishq Hi Hai Rab is a romantic song but it doesn't go into a new zone. It sticks to the Punjabi flavour and you know there's no escaping. While I have no problem with Punjabi music, the issue is that there is no experimentation whatsoever. Pritam got in loads of variation and folk tunes in his last offering Love Aaj Kal within the Punjabi numbers he composed. But here he sticks to the tried and tested. Gym Shym by Joshilay slightly manages to bring that in.

The film is seeped in Punjabi and the music reflects that. Guess Yash Raj Films need to find characters, subjects and music beyond Punjab. Audiences and listeners are waiting to lap up anything that is remotely different or interesting. But this Yash Raj offering has nothing new to offer. It’s just timepass.
