Food review: The Wedding Cafe & Lounge

Book a table at this restaurant in the ’burbs for a very unique dining experience.

Food review: The Wedding Cafe & Lounge

Just like the name The Wedding Cafe & Lounge suggests, the restaurant allows you to browse through several aspects of shopping for a wedding. With retro music playing in the backdrop, the atmosphere is relaxed. Just what one needs if someone’s in the middle of marriage preparations. Even if they are not, the ambience still works to put you at ease. Overlooking the busy city traffic, it allows you to feel the quiet in middle of all the rush outside. The location also makes it a convenient stop for a bite.

We dropped there for lunch and started off with a round of non-veg starters. I ordered for a Barbequed Chicken, which is juicy chicken cubes marinated in barbeque sauce and cooked in open face barbeque. I am not a huge fan of this, but was keen on a little experimentation, so I tried this. As per my request, they added a touch of spice and it worked well for my tastes. We also ordered for a Lasooni Murg Tikka — chunks of chicken dipped in shahi marinade with a hint of garlic, chilly and spices — and this was extremely well-done. I would strongly recommend this dish.

For the main course, we ordered Chicken Marsala with Mushrooms — chicken stuffed with sliced mushrooms and herbs served on saffron risotto. Along with this, we also asked for Malaysian chicken curry with steamed rice — spicy chicken curry flavoured with Indo-Asian spices accompanied with steamed rice.

This was a fairly authentic variation of the popular Malai Kari Ayam. While the chicken morsels were diced and cooked to perfection, the curry itself was slightly watered down, which made for a serviceable though unspectacular meal. As for the Chicken stuffed with mushroom, the chicken again was cooked just right with the mushroom stuffed in it, but the risotto was slightly undercooked. Over all, a good dish, but wasn’t the best.

I think the place serves better snacks and starters than the main course. What’s nice though is the quantity, the portions are great. The service is prompt and very efficient as well. The food fares well and the overall the dining experience is worth a try.
