When  you first hear the name it sounds like a desi Chinese restaurant. But this café is anything but Chinese or even a café! It’s actually a proper fine-dine restaurant. Spacious with wooden interiors, the ambience of this place is pretty elegant and ideal for formal meetings.

Ambience: Located near Andheri Sports Complex, Fat Cat Café is a lovely, simple, and yet artistic place making it quite unique for the location. You’ll find dark wood furniture with lots of circles as a part of their contemporary décor. They have an indoor as well as outdoor section (rare for fine-dine restaurants) Don’t miss to spot the clock wall hanging and the photo posters, which give life to the walls. It also has an interesting wine cellar tucked into the wall. I like the way the place is done up.

Food: The menu predominantly has Italian and North American cuisines. The flavours were strong, aromas enticing and presentations appropriate.

Round one: We ordered a Chicken Chowder with Pearl Barley Soup. I’ve never had a more soulful bowl of soup. Next on the plate was Grilled Chicken Breast. The chicken tasted just as fabulous. It was juicy, the meat was succulent and well seasoned. It was grilled to perfection and came with some delicious mashed potatoes, grilled veggies and a flavoursome sauce. My friend ordered the Fusilli, which was also quite satisfying. A lovely olive green contrasted the deep white dish it was served in, while the pesto was very nearly perfect. The flavours of garlic, cream cheese and pine nuts blended well with the olive oil and spinach. A simple yet delicious dish.
For the desserts round, we ordered a Mango Caramel Crème Brulee, which we were informed was not available at the moment. We were instead offered a Hazelnut Crème Brulee that we wished never ended!

Service: The staff was courteous and the service was prompt enough. And ther best part — the bill was accompanied with a big smile and choco mint bars!

Verdict: Fat Cat Café is surely a great place with good food, ambience and service. And it gets two thumbs up from my side! If you’re looking for options for a fine dining experience with friends, then this is one place you could keep in mind.
