Hygiene issues are a big concern: CEO of Mansha Entreprises

There is a huge awareness gap when it comes to dealing with hygiene, points out Lovell Khanna, CEO of Mansha Entreprises.

Could you tell us about Mansha?
Before starting Mansha, I’ve worked in leading MNCs in India and abroad. However, my wife and I decided to come back to India. We wanted to invest in something that will create an impact to the society. We are looking at taking a health angle and even a surgeon friend of mine suggested that we work on the same lines. Contemplating on which area to chose, he gave us a shocker of a statement informing that one of the biggest killers in India is diarrhea. We also understand that it is primarily because of the sanitary conditions that we follow. Though a lot of people come from an educative background, our poor sanitary habits like using our hands and toilet paper makes us unhygienic. With issues such as food poisoning, we decided to come up with a product that has auto cleaning. The Hygiclean Manual Bidets helps overcome these problems. We have used United Nations Bottom Line concept, where companies not only insists on existence and sustainability, but also how much the company contributes to the society. The products that we feature fit to the dot as our primary focus is on the society.

So how did you go about conceptualising this product?
Though in places like Japan manual bidets are quite popular, we altered the product to suit Indian audiences. We have localised the product in manner such that it’s easier to use the new technology. The basic goal is to prevent people from using their hands. We attached the water connection, where there is a spray of sorts that gets the water from there. There is a knob where you turn on and the jet automatically cleans the body for you. Once you close the knob, the process retracts. However, we have come up with as many as 16 models that have special features. The price of these is also affordable as the basic starts from Rs2,000 onwards.

What are some of the special features?
There are seat heating systems where the seat automatically warms up according to weather conditions. There are hot air blows along with bubble wash. We have special systems that offer solutions for constipation as well.

What are some of faux pas people commit when it comes to such issues?
The use of toilet paper is the biggest ecological disaster. We are wasting paper in a large manner leading to several ecological problems as well. Other issues like water sprays to clean your hands is another faux pas. According to studies, only 45% of the germs get cleaned. So this is probably a best solution people can think of to avoid hygiene issues.

There is a huge awareness gap when it comes to hygiene. Certain things are ingrained in our brains so much so that we don’t want to change it. We need to start taking these issues seriously and work towards adopting a healthy lifestyle.
