What's on her cards?

We got tarot card reader, numerologist, healer, entrepreneur, homemaker and mother Shradha Salla to put the cards on the table and talk about different facets of her life

What's on her cards?

Shradha A Salla does not adhere to or fit into the stereotypical image that most people have of a tarot card reader or a numerologist. You won't find her peering through a crystal ball to see your future, however, she does use the magic of numbers, the predictions of tarot and the power of your mind and belief in affirmations to help you manifest and visualise what you want in life. We caught up with her, and got talking about her work, family and her plans for the future. Read on to find out more.

How did your romance with the stars, numbers and energies begin?
My husband Ajay, has always been a believer in the magic of numbers. It's his passion for numerology that rubbed off on me, and I decided to start learning more about it. From there I moved on to tarot. Not content with what I knew so far I went on to find out more about the power of energies and the mind. This led me to discover the impact manifestation, visualisation and affirmations can have in your life, if you truly believe that you have the power to change, you can make things better.

Have you applied the visualisation and manifestation techniques in your own life?
Yes, I do it every day. I remember this incident the other day. My husband and I wanted to watch this movie, which was all sold out. I visualised myself in the theatre watching and enjoying the film and I told my husband to take me to the theatre. Even at this point we had no seats. We got to the theatre, and went to the ticket window, and managed to get two separate seats. My husband turned to me saying you are visualising and manifesting this right? I did not say a word. We entered the theatre, only to find two seats in front of us vacant. We decided to sit there instead, and we watched the movie together. It's my energy and belief that combined together because I had faith. That's the power of manifestation, visualisation and affirmations. I have even taught my daughters to apply it in their lives. Whenever, they have a competition or race in school I tell them to apply the techniques- asking what you want, believing that it's possible and visualising that you are receiving it, even before they participate in it. It has not only helped them win medals and awards, but has also improved their confidence levels.

So it's all about staying and being positive?
Yes, it's a major part of it, but it also requires you to work towards what you want to achieve. That's where I love me can help. It's a 21-day course that teaches you how to visualise and manifest positive things and to make changes in your life to get desired results. Day 1 is where I interact with the students, the remaining days are a commitment that the students make to follow and apply what has been taught on the first day.

And how successful have you been in this endeavour?
Well, I can't really quantify success because the word means different things to different people. All I can say is that I have worked to be in a position where I help people from different walks of life. These include hoteliers, businessmen, people from the entertainment field, real estate and even people like you and me.

How do you balance your work and personal commitments?
It's my energy that keeps me going. I start my day at 6.45 am, right from making sure the kids leave for school on time, making time for myself, working out at the gym, coming back to oversee household chores to travelling five days a week, meeting clients for vastu consulations, then coming back to keep my appointments with clients and then making time to interact with people for work and to spend time with my husband, family and friends. Balancing my day is the key to achieving all of this.

I love me, I love edamame and I believe. Tell us more about them.
Like I mentioned earlier I love me is a brand that encapsulates the others. I love edamame is an offshoot of I love me. It's basically taking that idea further to focus on health living, which is an important aspect. While there are a section of people who go to cinema halls, to enjoy a movie with cheesy popcorn and deep-fired samosas, there's also another set of people who don't want to binge on junk. Edamame earlier was scarcely available in the city, I decided to make it accessible to everyone. That's why I started the I love edamame kiosks. I already have one in PVR Lower Parel and one at PVR Juhu that is doing extremely well. I hope to start one soon on Carter Road and one in Nariman Point. Apart from I love edamame I am also working with I believe. It's my way of giving back. Through I believe, we want to take up different causes including sponsoring the education of a child.
