There is no short cut: Dino Morea on getting a right body

Actor and a fitness enthusiast, Dino Morea, explains why people should not torture themselves to get the right body.

Why not to be too hard on oneself?
I always remember what my dad use to say, ‘Rome was never built in a day.’ To make something beautiful and pleasing to the eye, it takes time, work, patience and dedication. Never be too hard on yourself. At the same time, if you are trying to achieve a certain goal, don’t slack. Being hard on oneself can sometimes lead to irreparable damage; always exercise after consulting with a professional.

When do people start being too hard?
People normally start being too hard on themselves when they don’t see results in a hurry. While exercising does take time, the body needs as much time to recover too. I always encourage parents to indulge their kids in as many sports as possible, so they start at an early age. People who start exercising late in life, have to be patient and never resort to the quick steroid way. It is very harmful.

How not to torture one self?
One has to realise and understand that there is no quick fix to attaining an excellent physique without spending time on your body to exercise. Rest a lot; eat right, no stimulants, remember there is no easy way out.

What can be the repercussions of over working?
You have no idea — it could be immense. Right from back injuries to dislocation to muscle tears to ligament problems, you name it; anything can happen if not careful.
