Beauty queries

I am a 16-year-old girl. I suffer from two problems. Firstly, I have got dark circles since the last four years. I have normal but slightly sensitive skin. Please suggest a cream or a home remedy. Also, a year ago, I had straight, thick, silky hair. But now I have dry scalp, dandruff and lots of hairfall and my hair has become a bit curly and thin. Oiling my hair in the night and washing it the following day leaves it dry. I have tried many shampoos and conditioners, and got a head massage done from the salon but still nothing has changed. —Mrunal

Dark circles can be due to many reasons like lack of sleep, anaemia, deficiencies due to sudden dieting and weight loss. Try and improve your sleep, eat more green leafy vegetables. You can start applying Cernor XO cream or Wunder eye cream at night to see an improvement. For dandruff, you need to use a No Skurf lotion on the scalp at night and use an anti-dandruff shampoo like 8X the following morning. Use these twice a week. You can use a conditioner called Triflow to take care of the dry hair. For hair fall, you can start taking supplements like Essvital once a day.

I am an 18-year-old college student. I have a lot of dark spots and pimples on my face. Also, there is a lot of oil secretion around my nose and the portion around my nose is dark. Could you suggest a moisturiser or a face wash to get rid of pimples and dark spots? —Piyush

The most important thing to control pimples is to keep your face free from excessive oiliness. You can start using a face wash suitable for pimple prone skin like Keracnyl foaming gel or Cetaphil OS cleanser or Fash foaming gel twice or thrice a day. Even the moisturiser needs to be suitable for your skin like Acnemoist moisturiser or Cetaphil dermacontrol moisturiser with sunscreen.

I recently went for a pedicure and have developed a fungal infection in the nails on my toes. What can I do to get rid of it? —Preeti

I suggest you consult a good dermatologist to first confirm if it is a fungal infection. And if it is then your doctor may send a small scraping of your nail for investigating the type of fungus as the fungal treatment will depend on it. Just using topical fungal creams will not help as they cannot penetrate through the hard nail. Hence, it’s advisable to see your doctor.
