Go Satvik says Jacqueline Fernandez

If some sin-free fare is what you are craving for, do not think twice before heading to The Yoga House in Bandra. A Santorini-style bungalow in the quaint bylanes near the sea makes one feel closer to nature.

In spite of the fact that we still are very much in the city, the greens around, the neat and clean verandah seem to be inviting you to enter the white and green walled hub of overall wellness. Since I am not a huge fan of fatty, rich or heavy foods, the very fact they house yummy yogic meals just works wonders for me. Though it is more of a laidback and fun place, it isn’t really like an ordinary restaurant. In fact it has a vegetarian macrobiotic cafe, a yoga class and a wellness shop.

The café serves breakfast, lunch, juices and teas from a menu designed by the wellness experts. The menu, though not exotic, is an exclusive one and divine and guilt-free at that. I took my Housefull 2 girl gang to the haven of Satvik delicacies. We started with what is one of my favourite dishes here: Fig with sesame, olive oil and lemon dressing along with Orange Salad, which is served with cashew and orange dressing on a bed veggies and orange.

For main course, we ordered for the king neo burger, which is loaded with lots of veggies. A sure must have after a heavy duty work out as it’s made with organic veggies and bread. The other hit for me is the tofu brown rice stir fry, which is not just filling but also yummy for rice lovers without the guilt of piling on those kilos. Quinoa Taboule, a combination of Bolivian and Lebanese grains paired with onion, tomato and parsley is also really tasty.

And just because it’s a wellness house, desserts aren’t banned here. The apple pie almonds, oat flour and dates are a perfect healthy way end a meal. The smoothies and juices are delightful as well. I like the Pink Juice, served at regular temperature and not chilled, as per the wellness guidelines. It’s a blend of pomegranate, rose water and watermelon which is not just energising but also great detox nectar.

Apart from gorging on some yummy, guilt-free food, go there to relax and enjoy the tranquility the place offers.

Jacqueline Fernandez is an actresa and a foodie.
