Woohoo! Last week of the superfuntastic pride month

Allah! What a weekend this is. On Friday, I was with my dosts, Meghna Pant and my superfab tattoo queen Sapna Bhawnani amongst other friends. On Saturday, there was an Aurat-log ka march at Veer Kotwal Udyan as a mark of protest against the molestation incidents. A global setback, on jhumme ki raat, the LGBT page disappeared from the US government website. Gaysi Family launched its globally critically acclaimed GaysiZine a magazine that spoke about queer desires at Godrej India Culture Lab. And HURRAY! Thane saw its first ever queer themed flashmob. Today shaam, head to Juhu Hotel for the Gulabi Mela to buy cool stuff and have majja. So much happening, so I believe that Mumbai is the gay capital of India. And that's a damn good thing, because despite some challenges, at the core, Bombay rocks when it comes to accepting people with diverse sexualities and genders.

Coming week toh more fun aahe, on January 25 head to Dadar-Matunga cultural center for a queer themed play that I am a part of called 'Colour Positive'. On Republic Day, we have something like a treasure hunt called 'The Q Hunt'. Evening, we have a tadaktha-bhadakta event by the Dancing Queens at Anti Social, Khar. Parallelly, we have a fantastic Bollywood musical play called 'Phir Bhi Tu Khwaab Sajaa'. On Friday, please head to NCPA to join us for a musical evening with the Rainbow Voices Mumbai in concert.

January 28 is the D-Day. We present one of the biggest, grandest pride parades in India. Thousands are expected to join in the pride festival that takes off from August Kranti Maidan, near Grant Road station at 3pm. This year, following the precedent set by the Namma Pride of Bangalore, we are trying to make the pride as "access positive" as possible for our queer and supporter friends with disability. We are eternally thankful to Mobicabs for coming out in support of this initiative. My friend, Nidhi Goyal and friends from the NGO Point of View are working with the pride's "access positive" team to ensure that disabled persons don't miss the pride. Mobicabs's disabled-friendly vehicles will be available for travel, but you will need to pre-book before 24 January. You can call or WhatsApp on +91-9920560011 so that we can arrange a vehicle for you.
Watch out for a banner called JAMM's (Journey About Mast Moms) network, where young mothers will be marching with banners that read "MOTHERS FOR EQUALITY". I have been meeting many college students and they will be seen with the banner "STUDENTS FOR EQUALITY". We will have some student doctors walking with the banner "Future Doctors for Equality".

So today shaam at Juhu Hotel and from Wednesday to Saturday, we have a date. Let's make the last week of this super pride month, super-duper fantastic together.

Toh…. Aaneka, Naachneka, Khaaneka… Majja Karke Jaane Ka!
