Designer diary: The jungle we live in

Watching Jungle book in my 3D glasses, the magical journey with Mowgli, Sher Khan, Bagheera, Baloo and others took me back to my childhood days, where the make-belief worlds seemed real.

When I was a child, I remember, after every film, my mother would ask: What I learnt through films. And though most films teach us simple things like good over evil, and love triumph over hatred, Jungle Book left a impact on me and the mind of every child who watched it. But I was sure people like the TV actors and stars haven't learn anything from films or life.

The alleged suicide of TV's sweetheart Pratyusha Bannerjee became like a make believe world, like jungle book with characters popping up. There was Rahul the boyfriend and prime suspect (Sher Khan) howling and screaming loudly. Someone else was behaving like bandarlogs (monkeys) either, fainting, touching up their make up, and taking smoke breaks in between conducting their own press conference. Then there was "thuu" the

Indian cobra with pink head phone, posing with a ceiling fan in her hand, asking that fans be banned. I am sure that after this statement her fan (can't imagine there is more than one) would ban her.

Then there was "Chikai " the rat, who claimed to be her friend and producer who hadn't even spoken to her in the last three months. Buldeo (the chief hunter) screamed in TV cameras, "Bhai, yeh toh murder hai " Raksha, the Indian wolf, the protector could have handled the press con better by not saying there was a wound on her nose and one on her neck. And Tabaqui (guess who) the video guy who went to the house and took her version of the evidence, (our own Mrs detective) and kept telling the press there was sindoor on her mang, uff what more do I say about these concrete jungle people? They left me aghast, thanking my stars that I don't have friends like these.

Go see the film and I am sure you will find resemblance between many humans and characters of the film.
