I will be voice of the farmers in Rajya Sabha: Madan Lal Saini

Q: What does your selection to the Rajya Sabha mean?

A: It is recognition of the commitment of a common party worker of the BJP who spends his life for the uplift of the party. I have been associated with the RSS since 1952. When I came to Jaipur during college, I was given the charge of working with the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh. I became a whole timer for the party and in the subsequent years spent working at various posts both at the state and national levels. My ticket is a recognition of my work.   

Q: Have you worked in the organisation with Narendra Modi?

A: Yes, I have worked at the national level when Modi was also serving the party organisation. He was then the national general secretary of the BJP and I was national general secretary of the Kisan Morcha. Even President Kovind was working in the organization at that time.  

Q: What issues will be your priority in the Upper House ?

A: I will prominently raise the issues of farmers in the Rajya Sabha. I am not a technical expert but I have prepared a hypothesis on tolled canals and developed some theories about how the PM’s vision of doubling farmers’ income could be achieved. I will raise put forward these solutions. Farmers’ and state issues will be my priority.  

Q: After the bypoll debacle, what are your expectations from assembly polls?  

A: When a tiger prepares to leap, he takes a step or two backwards and then lunges forward at full speed. For big parties, small setbacks are not too significant at the macro level. The party has not lost because of its work or workers. We are introspecting the causes and they will be rectified. We will form the government again.
