Former Team India cricketer Gautam Gambhir has revealed that what, according to him, is the biggest difference between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Virat Kohli's style of leadership in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Under the capable leadership of Dhoni, CSK has bagged three IPL titles - 2010, 2011 and 2018.

Meanwhile, Kohli has managed to guide RCB to their one and only final which they ended up losing to Sunrishers Hyderabad in the end.

Speaking at the 'Cricket Connected' show, Gambhir claimed that Dhoni's cool and calm nature helps him conduct his team better whereas Kohli is a bit too reactive to losses after games.

“The biggest difference between Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni is that MS Dhoni persists with his players for 6-7 matches."

"If you see RCB’s trend, they make changes very quickly because they have a doubt that their playing XI does not have a proper balance," Gambhir said on the show.

The former Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) skipper then went on to add, "So I would want to see from RCB that even if the start is not good, they should persist with their playing XI and give them 6-7 matches."

"Because then only the players will give you performances and not if you give one or two matches."

"So if Virat Kohli has calmness in his mind that this is the most balanced squad, the important thing will be how they perform and how much he persists with these  players," the former Indian opener said.

Speaking about the fate of RCB in the IPL 2020, Gambhir claimed that Kohli seems very-much calm ahead of the tournament opener and it will help the Bangalore-franchise do well in UAE.

"What Virat Kohli has said, when you are happy with your squad as a captain, you would have already planned which playing XI you want to play," Gautam said.

"If you are satisfied, then the calmness also comes along. Because there are times that you do not come to know your best XI in the entire tournament and that is why you make a lot of changes," he added.

"I still feel that RCB look a little batting-heavy. But one thing that you will see a little different is that the bowlers will be happy because they will not have to play 7 matches at the Chinnaswamy Stadium," he concluded.

While CKS take on Mumbai Indians in the much-awaited opening day fixture of the IPL 2020 on September 19, RCB will be hosting Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on September 21 in their first game of the tournament.
