Rajasthan govt extends payment of rabi season Agri loan deadline till August 31

The Government of Rajasthan has extended the deadline for repayment of short term loans of rabi crop 2020-21 from June 30 to August 31, giving a big relief to the farmers keeping in view the situation of COVID-19. The decision was taken during the review meeting of the cooperative department, chaired by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. During the meeting, CM Gehlot also directed to expedite the disbursement of short term crop loans for the upcoming season and to benefit more and more farmers. CM Gehlot said that the economic condition of the farmers has been affected due to the coronavirus pandemic. In such a situation, giving an additional time to farmers for repayment of crop loans will be a big relief to them. The cooperative department has set a target of disbursing short-term crop loans of Rs 16,000 crore this year, out of which loans worth Rs 2,550 crore have already been disbursed. During the financial year 2019-20, about 9.71 lakh and during 2020-21, 3.91 lakh new farmers have been linked to the loan disbursement process.
