Big News! Assam Decides To Repeal Muslim Marriages Act, ‘Paves Way For Uniform Civil Code’ | UCC
In a move towards implementing the Uniform Civil Code, the Assam Cabinet repealed the Assam Muslim Marriage and Divorce Registration Act, 1935, on January 23rd. Consequently, all aspects concerning Muslim marriages and divorces will now be governed by the Special Marriages Act.
