Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday met Swiss President Johann Schneider-Ammann to deepen cooperation with the key European nation, and said combating the menace of 'black money' is a shared priority of both the nations.
Addressing a joint briefing, PM Modi said, "India and Switzerland have both been the voices of peace, understanding and humanitarian values in the world. The economic links between our two countries are strong and vibrant."
"Combating the menace of "black money" and tax evasion is also our shared priority," PM added.
Thanking the Swiss President for supporting India's membership into the NSG, he added, "We have both also agreed to support each other for our respective bids for the non-permanent membership of the UNSC."
Stating that India & Switzerland are making considerable progress in fighting tax fraud & evasion, the Swiss President said, "We have promised India support in its efforts to become a member of NSG."
Earlier, addressing business leaders, PM Modi told them India is not just a market of 1.25 billion and that the government is open to business. "We want to have manufacturing of global standards. Hence Swiss model of skill development very relevant for us," he said.
"The diamonds on Swiss watches come from Gujarat. So am fully sensitive to your concerns," PM Modi added.
