The Supreme Court and the Delhi High court will hear these important cases on September 18. Here is the list.

1. Sanjeev Chawla bail case

On September 18, the Supreme Court will hear a petition filed against the Delhi High Court's decision to uphold the bail granted to alleged bookie Sanjeev Chawla, the main accused in the 2000 Hansi Cronje match-fixing case. The Crime Branch of the Delhi Police, in its supplementary charge sheet, also said that Sanjeev Chawla's non-cooperation in investigation testifies to his involvement in the crime.

Sanjeev Chawla came out of Tihar jail earlier this month for Delhi High Court's decision to uphold the bail order given by the trial court. After this relief, Delhi Police has approached the Supreme Court. The bookie, who lives in London, claimed that no cricket match is fair and that all cricket matches that people watch are fixed.

2. Delhi-NCR air pollution case

The Supreme Court will hear the air pollution case of Delhi and NCR. In the last hearing, the court was told that the work of the Smog Tower project would start soon and would be completed in 10 months. During the hearing, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta had told the court that IIT Bombay will oversee the Smog Tower project. NBCC will build it and see the TATA installation. It will take 10 months as the foundation work will start. Earlier the apex court had indicated that the court would initiate contempt proceedings against IIT Bombay if they opted out of the Smog Tower project.

3. Sudarshan TV case

The Supreme Court will hear a petition filed for the broadcast of 2 episodes of Sudarshan TV's program Bindas Bol. In the previous hearing, the court had said that at first glance they appear to malign the Muslim community. The court had stayed the telecast of 2 episodes of the program, stating that at the moment, it seems at first sight that the program is going to discredit the Muslim community. The event is about the alleged intrusion of Muslim community members into the administrative services. 

4. Supertech real estate case

The Supreme Court will hear the petition filed on behalf of Supertech Limited. The supertech reality firm has sought Rs 1500 crore assistance from the government to complete 12 projects with incomplete 20 thousand flats. The firm has requested to give this amount to the Stress Fund which was created by the government. According to the firm, these projects are in the completion stage and are located on Noida, Greater Noida, and Yamuna Expressway. In November, the Central Government has tried to help 1500 residential projects stuck in the country by creating a stress fund of Rs 25 thousand crores. With this, 4.58 lakh houses are expected to be provided to the citizens.

The Delhi High Court will hear a petition seeking a ban on Netflix streaming of the film 'Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl'. In the previous hearing, the court refused to ban the streaming of the film. Also, the court has asked Dharma Productions Pvt Ltd, Karan Johar, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd, Netflix, and others to respond to the petition of the Center and the Indian Air Force. Additional Solicitor General Sanjay Jain, representing the Center, had said that the matter affects the dignity and reputation of the Indian Air Force. It was also said that the Indian Air Force has been depicted in the wrong light especially scenes depicting gender discrimination.

6. Indian Olympic Association & Sports Ministry case

The Delhi High Court will hear the case involving the Sports Ministry and the Indian Olympic Association. The case relates to a petition filed in 2010 by advocate Rahul Mehra requesting the court to direct the Center that the IOA and NSF perform their duties to improve the sports administration in the country. In February this year, the Delhi High Court barred the ministry from taking any decision on NSF without consulting the court. Subsequently, the Ministry had to withdraw the recognition given to the 57 NSFs of various sports, which hampered their administrative functions.

7. Jamia Milia Islamia violence case

The Delhi High Court will hear the Jamia Millia Islamia violence case. During the last hearing, the counsel for the petitioner had said that the Chief Proctor of the University had given information by tweeting that the Delhi Police was not allowed to enter the University Campus. But the police entered the university campus inside, without the permission of the university administration and after that the students were beaten.
