Lok Sabha on Monday passing 'The Mental Healthcare Bill' and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley introducing the four Goods and Services Tax (GST) bill. While, Rajya Sabha held discussion on Finance Bill on Monday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was to chair a Cabinet Meet to review the GST Bill on Tuesday, which has now been postponed.
While talking about the GST bill in Lok Sabha on Monday, Finance Minister Jaitley had mentioned that the maximum tax rate of 40%, an anti-profiteering body and arrests for evading taxes would be included in a bid to overhaul India's fragmented indirect tax system.
'The Mental Healthcare Bill' passed on Tuesday seeks to decriminalise suicide attempt by mentally ill people and provides for the right to better healthcare for people suffering from mental illness. All the amendments moved by the opposition members were defeated and the bill was passed by the House by a voice vote. The Rajya Sabha had passed it in August last year with 134 official amendments.
