Following a move in Russia seeking a ban on the Russian translation of Bhagwat Gita as it is, has caused much anger among Indian law makers who strongly oppose this ban.

It has also lead to furious protests by Indians and the Hare Krishna sect. Such a ban could adversely affect the Hare Krishna followers and lead to a ban on their activities altogether.

The case against the Indian religious text was filed in the city of Tomsk by three Tomsk State University professors who believe that Bhagwad Gita is an anti-Christian text.

Strong protests against the demand for this ban lead to an adjournment of the Lok Sabha session On December 19. The MPs expressed anger and condemned the ban.
