Hello and welcome to our live blog of Uttar Pradesh Elections. BJP is all set to form the next government in the state and has passed the 300 seats mark. It has won 312 seats out of 403. It's ally Apna Dal has won 9 seats and SBSP has won 4 seats. All total NDA has won 325 seats in Uttar Pradesh.
BSP is virtually decimated and has just won 19 seats. SP-Congress alliance was a complete washout. Rahul Gandhi's Congress could barely manage to get 7 and Akhilesh Yadav's SP won 47 seats.
It is an incredible three fourth majority for BJP, and their best performance in the state so far surpassing Kalyan Singh's 221 in 1991. It is the third highest tally for any victor in Uttar Pradesh and highest after Uttarakhand was carved out of the state.
Uttar Pradesh with 403 seats is India’s most populous state. In 2012, Akhilesh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party got a clear majority bagging a clear majority. BSP was second and mighty BJP was reduced to third spot. But much has changed in Indian politics since then. 2014, a watershed year in Indian politics witnessed a tsunami of support for then BJP PM candidate Narendra Modi. The result was a complete wave in Uttar Pradesh with party winning 73 out of 78 Lok Sabha.
