How have you classified congestion points in the national Capital ?

There are 77 congested corridors in the city. We have classified them under category A/B/C. High visibility/high volume traffic falls under catergory A, low volume traffic/ low visibility falls under category C. B is the medium category. There are 28 corridors in category A and 19 in category C.

The Delhi Traffic police had written to the Transport Department regarding the decongestion plan for the ISBT terminus. What other plans have been proposed and how do you plan to decongest Delhi roads?

Yes, we had written a letter and proposed a plan regarding decongestion of ISBT and other corridors. The findings of the proposed plan have also been approved by the Central Road Research Institute (CRRI). We are not aiming at widening the roads and new constructions, since it can't be done due to structural issues. Our aim is to decongest the traffic flow by doing things that can be easily implemented. For example, take the case of ISBT.

There is an MCD garbage point at the terminus. We have requested the agencies concerned to shift it. Installing railings and signals is also a part of it.

Since there are 77 corridors that are a part of the decongestion plan, how are you planning to implement it? Traffic police alone can't carry this out.

The Delhi Police have six traffic ranges, headed by an officer of the Deputy Commissioner of Police rank. After writing to the Transport department, six task forces have been set up, which are working along with us and other agencies, including MCD, PWD, DMRC, and others.
