Prime Minister Narendra Modi unfurled the national flag and addressed the nation from the historic Red Fort on the 72nd Independence Day on Wednesday. PM Modi gave a report card of his past 4 years and stressed that the pace of development has increased post his government came to power.
PM Modi really tried to drive home the point steps taken by the government to improve the condition of the people of the country. PM Modi said that from the time of policy paralysis it is time for transform, reform and perform. PM Modi said that India's stature has grown by leaps and bounds in the last few years and he would like to see a New India by 2022, 75 years of Independence.
Earlier, the unfurling of the tri-colour synchronised with the 21 Gun Salute fired by the valiant gunners of the elite 2281 Field Battery (Ceremonial). The ceremonial battery will be commanded by Lieutenant colonel C Sandeep and the Gun Position Officer will be Regiment Havildar Major Kolate Rajesh Shripati.

This was the Prime Minister's fifth speech after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) came to power in 2014.
Seven hundred cadets of the National Cadet Corps drawn from 16 schools of the Delhi Directorate comprising the Army, Navy and Air Force wings participated in the flag hoisting ceremony this year
3,500 girls from 36 schools of Directorate of Education, Government of Delhi sang the national anthem, 5,000 boys from 72 schools withnessed the event. On this occasion, these school children have displayed the formation of Bharat.
