Voting began on Wednesday morning for the Panaji, Bawana and Nandyal assembly constituency by-election in Goa, Delhi and Andhra Pradesh respectively.

Goa Chief Minister and BJP candidate Manohar Parrikar is pitted against Congress' Girish Chodankar and Goa Suraksha Manch's (GSM's) Anand Shirodkar.

Parrikar, currently not a member of the state Assembly, had represented Panaji constituency during 1994 to 2012.

He had resigned as MLA in the year 2014, following his ascension to Centre as Defence Minister.

In Delhi's, the BJP, AAP and Congress are locked in a triangular contest for the Bawana Assembly constituency.

The AAP has fielded Ram Chander from the constituency The other major contender is of the Congress, which is trying hard to open its account after being relegated to zero seat in the legislative Assembly. It has fielded its former three-time MLA from Bawana, Surender Kumar.

The BJP has fielded Ved Prakash, who won from Bawana in 2015 Assembly elections on an AAP ticket. He had resigned from the MLA post and quit the AAP to join the BJP in March this year.

In Andhra Pradesh's Nandyal assembly constituency, the TDP has fielded Reddy's nephew Brahmananda Reddy while the YSRC put up former minister Silpa Chandra Mohan Reddy, who lost the seat as TDP nominee in 2014.

In all, 15 candidates, including Congress' Gaddam Abdul Khadar, are in the fray but the principal fight is between the TDP and the YSRC candidates.
