People today have become health conscious, but taking the short route is not the solution, advises the founder of VLCC.

There are no shortcuts to good health: VLCC's Vandana Luthra

At a time where there weren’t many fitness centres so to speak around the country, Vandana Luthra opened her first salon and fitness centre, Curls and Curves in 1989. Having made her entrepreneurial debut at an early age, Vandana has been able to facilititate many changes in the fitness and wellness sector.
In town recently to launch yet another wellness centre, she says,

“When I started VLCC in 1989, obesity was on the rise and I wanted to give people the feeling of looking and feeling good.” With numerous fitness centres on the rise, Vandana points out that several people have become fitness conscious these days.

“Staying fit and healthy is a combined package. Even a simple haircut today makes people confident. It’s good to see men and women taking fitness seriously. Everyone wants to look good and keep their weight under check,” Vandana adds.

However, she is quick to point out that people often resort to short cuts when it comes to being healthy. “Aping celebrities and their fitness stories will not help you at all. One has to remember that there is no shortcut to fitness. The concept of size zero doesn’t exist in a country like ours and reaching the ideal weight should be the only goal. In fact, it is pointless to lose too much weight in too short a time,” she advises, adding, “There is nothing like good food or bad food. You can binge once in a while, just that you shouldn’t make a habit out of it. Instead, make exercise a habit. It is time people consult nutritionists before starting their own diet regime, as they know best as to what will suits you.”
