Ahmedabad civic body seals over 110 construction sites

Recently, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation's (AMC) health department has become active by sealing more than 110 construction sites to check mosquito breeding. On Monday, the department sealed a total of 26 construction sites in four wards.

The health department has been serving notices and sealing the construction sites where mosquito breeding has been noticed.

The department has become vigil following unprecedented increase in the number of vector-borne diseases such as malaria, falciparum and dengue in the city.

Since Friday, out of the 500 construction sites visited, more than 110 sites have been sealed, including 26 on Monday. Digant Oza, deputy health officer of East Zone, said that they had formed nearly 22 teams for the screening of 168 construction sites in the zone and have served over 156 notices to the developers and sealed 98 sites during the weekend. "We have covered almost all of the on going construction sites in the zone," said Oza.

On Monday, with the highest count of 13 construction sites in new west zone, including Business Park, Popular Domain, Kalpkunj, Summit Residency, NTR, Kirti Platinum, Altius, Anmol Hill, Anis Homes, Arshad Meridian, were sealed by the department. In the south zone, nine construction sites including Akruti Township, Samruddhi Residency, ABC Arcade, Ayodhya Park-II, Swaminarayan Park-II and Samved Residency were sealed.
The cleaning process by the health department includes the removal of water from the ditches of the sites.
