Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt along with filmmaker Karan Johar launched the trailer of their upcoming film Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania on 26th May, directed by Shashank Khaitan. The film also stars Siddharth Shukla of Balika Vadhu. Both Alia (Kavya) and Varun (Humpty) had debuted in Karan Johar's Student of The Year. The movie is said to release on 11th July.
Karan Johar (KJo) who believes that Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge (DDLJ) is the 'pillar' of all love stories. KJo debuted in the Aditya Chopra film as a sidekick of Shah Rukh Khan and is very close to his heart. Inspite of the glimpse of DDLJ seem in this film it is very different from DDLJ.
The first poster of the film is inspired by the latest widespread trend of selfie, the poster has Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan wearing colored shades and holding on to each other while clicking a selfie and calling it a 'Humpie'.
The second poster has Alia Bhatt lifting Varun Dhawan. Alia Bhatt even tweeted about the poster being authentic.

According to a report, the film's first trailer which features the lip lock scene was disapproved by the censor board. Members from Karan's team questioned the decision as many trailers with similar scenes have been approved. Karan Johar's '2 States' trailer carried a lip lock scene between Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor was also approved by the censor board. Later the wide shot of the lip lock scene was approved.
After Dharma Productions two back to back success of Hasee Toh Phasse and 2 States, producer Karan Johar is all set with his upcoming movie Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania.
