Tiresome threesome

Tiresome threesome
Film: Three Love, Lies, Betrayal
Cast: Ashish Chowdhry, Akshay Kapoor, Nausheen Ali Sardar

Vikram Bhatt’s script may be thrilling, but the execution is far from it. A shallow love triangle develops between a melancholic violin teacher, her unemployed, freeloading husband, and their tenant. Adamant about not selling her ancestral property in Scotland, Anjini (Sardar) and Rajeev (Kapoor, with an odd accent) take in a PG.

No references or background checks, just rent upfront seems enough for the desperate couple to welcome Sanjay (Chowdhry), who sings Hindi songs in a bar. Before you can say bagpipes, Anjini has embarked on an affair under her drunken husband’s nose.

Sanjay wants Anjini to leave Rajeev, sell the house, and move with him to London. When she refuses, their affair turns into a fatal attraction. The premise of the story is as old as the Highlands. Sardar fails to earn the audience’s sympathy, plus she looks too old for the wrongly cast Kapoor. Chowdhry does well as the menacing lover.

The cinematography oscillates from effectively capturing the cold, love-less house to blurred in some scenes. The story itself offers nothing new.
