Perfect mishmash of run-of-the-mill ideas
There is only one good reason to see this NRI, wannabe crossover, influenced by Monsoon Wedding and Bride & Prejudice with a dose of ‘Meet The Fockers’ — the onscreen dynamics between Anupam Kher and Boman Irani. Other than that, this is old achaar in a past-its-sell-by-date bottle.

The story might even have had a chance if the script had focused on the mismatch between the cross-cultural Punjabi Mr Bhalla (Kher) and Gujarati motel owner Mr Patel (Irani) who scupper the noble intentions of nephew Aman (Anubhav Anand) and daughter Neha (Nandana Sen) respectively. But the focus is really on Aman’s career, ambition, romance, conflicts etc.

Mr Bhalla enjoys his whisky and non-veg jokes, Mr Patel is a vegetarian juice drinker. The early moments between them offer the only upbeat moments in this otherwise dreary film with pedestrian, formulaic writing and forgettable performances. We’ve seen it all before somewhere, except for the well-intentioned debut by Anubhav Anand (who is also the producer of the film) and Nandana Sen’s bizarre Barbie styling. A perfect mishmash!
