An excuse for a record- 'A Police Story'

Film: Police Story 3 (Kannada)
Director: Thriller Manju
Cast: Thriller Manju, Neha Patil, Disha Poovaiah, Sudeep
Rating: *

This much-hyped Guinness Record breaking film by Thriller Manju, was shot in less than a day and censored within a fortnight.

However, the question remains whether a film of good quality can be delivered in such a short period, especially since it is the third part of one of Sandalwood’s much-watched film series.

The answer is no. This film is shoddy, extremely jagged and sometimes appears to be completely nonsensical. The first half of the film looks like a collage of badly shot images of Bangalore, like the Vidhana Soudha, Freedom Park and MG Road, with baffling background score.

The film tries to zero in on the mafia in Bangalore, that operates a rather weird betting racket through karate championships. Two love stories, a rather inane comic track and an unnecessary satire on the political system, which lacks the punch, makes for the rest of this story.

The film has a lot of scenes and shots repeated, considering they had to fall back on a very limited set of shots captured.

Thriller Manju seems rather lackadaisical as the tough cop. It is only Sudeep in his special appearance who ends up as the saving grace of the film. Alas, even that seems to last just for a few
minutes.

Skip this one, for it seems like a jigsaw puzzle that leads you nowhere.
