'Love, Rosie' review: A bland film not worth your time or money!

Film: Love, Rosie

Director: Christian Ditter

Cast: Lily Collins, Sam Claflin, Christian Cooke, Suki Waterhouse

Rating: *

What's it about:

They're best friends who are always there for each other, but won't say they love each other. Over the years, they have several chances to, but are interminably linked to or involved with other people. Will Rosie (Lily Collins) and Alex (Sam Claflin) ever be bound together in love?

What's hot:

Really? Well, I do imagine I could say the casting of pretty faces helps this film somewhat. That and the music playing in the background -- listening to retro numbers and "modern classics" always helps while viewing a movie of such a mundane nature.

What's not:

One, it's too bland. There's never any real conflict, any real action taking place. Childhood friends grow up, always tiptoeing around their feelings for each other and you know, one way or the other that they are going to end up together. It's all a question of when and how. There's nothing to anticipate, well, except for the anticipation. Neither of the two leads are overtly bothered about potentially life-changing events. She's Catholic so obviously can't abort the baby. But how does that stop her from following her dreams when she has a solid support system. Why does she assume the boy is never going to find out about the pregnancy? Where are the red flags in relationships and why is Rosie so blind to them? Why and how does she become friends with the convenience store clerk Ruby (Jaime Winstone)? If she really hates Bethany, why does she suggest she look up and hook up with Alex? Why so confused, Mr Director and Mr Scriptwriter?

What to do:

Rosie Dunne leaves a lot undone. And maybe that's how real life is, but you really can't be that stupid in life. Really not worth your time or money. Unless you're a sucker for these kind of films.
