Film Review: 'Sex Tape' is unfunny, boring and too safe to be a sex comedy

Director: Jake Kasdan
Cast: Cameron Diaz, Jason Segel, Rob Lowe
Rating: *1/2

What's it about:

Yummy supermommy Annie (Diaz) and off-the-rails but responsible daddy and husband Jay (Segel) create a sex tape in a bid to rekindle their still-there-somewhere romance. Only thing is, he forgets to erase the video and syncs it to all connected devices instead, leading him on a mad chase to get all the copies back.

What's hot:

Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel have never looked better.

What's not:

Pretty much everything. It's unfunny. It's boring. It's too safe to be a sex comedy. The premise is flawed ('Nobody understands the cloud. It's a mystery.' It's not). You know this because Annie offers Jay a simple enough solution to their problem. As does their friend's creepy son. Also, who gets so many iPads to gift (to their mailman, too)? And why do we never even see the mailman. Also, a special appearance at the very end does little to salvage this film.

What to do:

You know this movie is going to be censored heavily. That aside, there's really no reason to bother yourself with this sad attempt.
