Yogish sings 'Kolaveri...' style song in new film

Kolaveri di…fever is here to stay and cashing in on its success this time is the crew of Kalaya Tasmai Namaha. Kannada actor Yogish, often referred to as the Dhanush of Kannada industry, is in the lead and so it’s anyone’s guess as to who is crooning the song.

“One day I was summoned to the recording studio and went there thinking the director wanted me to give a sound byte. So it came as a shock when I was asked to sing a song Kolaveri style…! For someone who is not even a bathroom singer, singing in public is quite a task but I still gave it a shot,” says Yogi. The actor says he is very kicked about it and is open to singing more songs if they are as fun as this one. “My family is thrilled. The first time they heard the song they laughed, but then they came around to loving it,” he adds.

The Kannada song is penned by Chandrashekar, the director of the film. AM Neel is the composer. “The hype that Kolaveri di… generated went on to create so much publicity about the film. We thought the same strategy would work in the favour of our film,” explains Chandrashekar. The 4.25 minute song was generated in flat two hours he claims. “While the tune resembles that of Kolaveri... the philosophy differs. Our song mirrors the confusions of the hero. The song will come at a point where the hero is unsure about accepting the heroine’s proposal,” says the director.

The video released captures the recording process just like in the original. But bits showcasing lead pair Yogish and Madhubala with a host of folk artistes are also added.
