It was a hark back to Silisila as Amitabh and Rekha met up with Pt Hari Prasad Chaurasia and Pt Shiv Kumar Sharma
It’s almost 27 years since Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha last starred in a film together. Besides being an almost real life representation of their much talked about relationship, Silisila was an unforgettable film for many other reasons as well — the lilting lyrics of Javed Akhtar and the haunting music of Pt Hari Prasad Chaurasia and Pt Shiv Kumar Sharma.
So when Amitabh and Rekha walked in (albeit separately) to bless Pt Sharma’s son Rahul (who wed his sweetheart Barkha Patel on Saturday in Mumbai) it was difficult to miss the connection.
Rekha, wearing sindoor and looking stunning beautiful in a Kanjeevaram sari, even touched the feet of Pt Chaurasia. A little later, Amitabh walked in with daughter-in-law Aishwarya, who preferred to extend her regards with a ‘namaste’.
While no words were exchanged between them and they hardly exchanged a glance at each other (it’s been that way for years), their sheer presence more or less overshadowed the event itself. And the unspoken question everyone’s lips seemed to be: What’s with the sindoor?
